Balanced diet provides health care for the skin

Invest in good cosmetic or aesthetic treatments can help restore softness, firmness and skin brightness. Without a healthy diet, these strategies are likely to make little difference to the health of the skin. A balanced diet should provide the essential nutrients responsible for the freshness of the dermis.

The skin is considered the largest organ in the body and represents approximately 9% of its weight. When not properly hydrated reduces the barrier responsible for blocking harmful bacteria and chemicals, makes it susceptible to infections and premature aging.

To help prevent and treat common problems, it is essential to ingest optimal amounts of vitamins and minerals that the body needs. Vitamins A, C, D and E, for example, act as antioxidants and have anti-inflammatory action, fight free radicals and slow the aging process. Other nutrients of high relevance are the minerals copper and manganese - both involved in the synthesis of collagen - and zinc - which operates in healing and preventing wrinkles. Finally, there is silicon, which ensures greater resilience.

To maintain skin hydration, you should drink plenty of water and food that contains it in abundance, especially in warmer weather, when the loss of water from the body through sweating occurs more rapidly. If the lost fluid is not replaced in time, the skin tends to lose its elasticity, shine and softness. Choose fruits like watermelon, cantaloupe and pineapple, in its natural form or juice.

As for preventing inflammation - and consequently acne - bet on foods rich in vitamin C, they have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Acne is the result of hormonal changes that influence the production of sebum, a substance that protects the skin from impurities and dehydration.

The problem occurs when the sebaceous glands begin to produce excess sebum, resulting in increased oiliness and clogged pores. Bet on foods such as pumpkin or sunflower seeds, seafood and citrus fruits.
